Well-being, health and care for the body whilst experiencing life whilst unwinding and discovering the unexpected is at the core of The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts DNA. During the month of May, we take a moment to raise the importance of mental health and share with you some unique and connected ways to unwind, restore and replenish the soul; so you can be ready for your next adventure.
In normal times, we would be traversing the globe and discovering hidden experiences, from trekking in the Himalayas visiting local and off the grid villages, or connecting with eco and sustainable farming in Krabi, Thailand; life-changing adventures are part of The Pavilions experience and our distinct destinations. However, this has unfortunately not been the case due to the pandemic and travel restrictions.
In the new digital world we live in where everything is online, it can be easy to get absorbed into the online world, especially when stuck at home during lockdowns. Now is the time to combine both worlds of online and offline to benefit yourself and your mindset.
Re-Connection
Talking to a friend you haven’t spoken to for a while provides a joy nothing can replace. We live viciously on social media every day; take a moment, call them, or go old school and write a letter! Writing a letter helps to release negative feelings or thoughts; you can share gratitude and positive feelings toward a person or circumstance. On your next visit to The Pavilions Bali, take joy in writing a ‘wish you were here’ postcard from the white sandy beaches.
Start a Nature Journal
Research has shown the positive physical and mental benefits associated with connecting with nature. Even more so is to document this. Here you will find a Nature Journal to write how you feel before and after connecting with nature, jot down anything interesting you notice while doing so. Simply stepping outside to your garden and smelling flowers, or freshly cut grass, or watering your herbs in the kitchen at home can be small and essential ways to connect with nature from home. The Pavilions Anana Krabi has a wonderful organic farm where you can take a tour and learn about local farming culture and agriculture with the team.
Take Action, Get Active
Not only does exercise help the body from a physical point of view, but it also has a profoundly positive impact on depression and anxiety. It also relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, and boosts your overall mood. Many apps are available for your phone that can walk or run you through exercises at home, lift your mood, and start your day with on a positive note. The Pavilions Himalayas offers travellers a majestic range of treks and tours into the mountains, a perfect start to your day.
Pay it Forward.
We believe giving back makes the world a better place; you can do this in small ways you may not even know you are doing so. The simplest way to define ‘Pay it forward’ is that when someone does something for you, you pass it on to another person instead of paying that person back directly. Other ways are to support local, maybe try the farmers market once a week instead of large grocery stores. Every little bit counts, and you will feel better for it too! At The Pavilions, supporting the local community and environment is at the heart of what we do.
We hope that we have provided some simple changes you can take this month to raise awareness for this important cause. Feel free to leave us feedback below on how you are making changes this month!
